On the 30th July 2003 Chris Newman’s life was completely turned upside down when he watched his 18 month old sister, Beanca, die.

Their mother and her partner had been tying them up at night to show them that ‘bed time was bed time’ and little Beanca gave up the fight and suffocated in the filthy caravan where they were both housed.

Rebecca Haliday, their mother was sentenced to 6 years jail for manslaughter, She was released on parole after only 2 years. Chris was saved by his Father, Simon and Grandmother, Jenny.
Jenny Newman (Nana) is Chris’ legal guardian and full time carer.

Chris is now 9 years old. On top of everything that has happened, the trauma he has gone through, he is also severely Autistic and has no verbal communication skills.

On June 28th 2008 the papers announced that Haliday, who finished her parol in Feburary is 6 months pregnant again. She has since given birth and Child Protection are allowing her to keep the baby.
